Stephen Yerkes Rodgers House
Stephen Yerkes Rodgers built this Greek Revival-style house in 1834. The carved fretwork in the pilasters flanking the door are reminiscent of the design in Asher Benjamin's The Practical House Carpenter, (Boston,1830). Stephen Yerkes Rodgers was the nephew of Joseph Yerkes, the patriarch of one of Oakland County's pioneer families. For over a century and a half, the house has been owned continuously by descendants of Joseph Yerkes.
